How does Air Cycle Technology work?

Air Cycle Technology is based on the heating capability of air during compression and cooling down during expansion. Repetition of compression and expansion cycles allows us to reach and maintain ultra-low temperatures down to -160 °C, reverse Brayton cycle

What is an open-cycle refrigeration system and how does it work (at MIRAI Cold machine)?

MIRAI open-cycle machines use air from the room/chamber to be cooled as the working refrigerant, passes through and returns cooled air. Open cycle machines are supplied with an automated moisture removal device - snowcatcher. This device filters ice particles from the air and removes it from the chamber, which significantly reduces ice or snow deposition on objects in the chamber.

What application is open cycle suitable for?

MIRAI open cycle machines are designed for cooling chambers and open spaces that are used for storing anything at ultra-low temperatures. It is ideal for applications such as storage of biomedical, pharmaceutical materials, high quality foodstuffs (fish, meat, fruit or vegetables), whole body cryotherapy chambers, storage cryocargo, etc

How does a humidity extraction device work?

Open cycle machines are equipped with a snowcatcher, which filters the air through itself, removing moisture from it and significantly reducing the amount of snow and ice formation on the objects in the chamber, thus eliminating the need for defrosting procedures.

What is a closed cycle refrigeration system and how does it work (in MIRAI Cold machine)?

MIRAI Cold machines in closed cycle operate as an indirect refrigeration system, in which the air is pressurized and the CWT models are equipped with a heat-exchanger for second gaseous or liquid coolant (e.g. HTF).

What application is closed cycle suitable for?

Closed cycle machines are used in a wide range of applications, from pharmaceuticals, medicine, biomaterials handling, solvent recovery, freeze drying, LNG, semiconductor production, metal processing, chemical processes, and other industries.

Questions relating to benefits:

What refrigerant does the air cycle technology system use?

MIRAI refrigeration machines use natural air or N2 as a refrigerant, so they are environmentally friendly and comply with all international standards and regulations. Many of our customers also receive financial support from the government by using our machines in their projects

How can MIRAI Cold machine help to avoid the build-up of ice in the chamber?

The snow catcher that comes with open cycle machines - filters the air and helps to reduce humidity in the chamber and prevent ice and snow from forming on objects in the chamber. Also, the chamber must comply with engineering standards and requirements, such as the design of the air ducts, the presence of a tambour, and the tightness of the chamber.

How is the motor of the compressor lubricated?

MIRAI Cold refrigeration machines do not need lubrication of the compressor, because of the use of air bearings, which eliminates the need for an oil management system because there are no rubbing parts inside, which allows us to significantly reduce the service needs of our machines.

What maintenance does a MIRAI Cold machine need?

The service of MIRAI machines depends on the components of the machine and the conditions of use. Each machine is supplied with a manual that specifies when and what needs to be maintained in the machine. But the main points are:

  • The compressor is designed for 20 years without any maintenance
  • The sensors should be calibrated every 3 years according to the manufacturer's recommendation, an important point for pharmaceutical companies.
  • Fan - very individual, depends on the mode of operation and conditions such as room pollution, etc.
  • If the machine has an air-cooled electrical cabinet - filters should be changed on demand of the machine, approximately once a year, in case of permanent machine operation.

All these points are specified in the manuals for every machine
